Due to the renovation and expansion works at the Albert Schweitzer Museum, the museum will be closed to the public until the entire structure is reopened on 25 January 2020.
Albert Schweitzer had this house built in 1928 with the money of the Frankfurt Goethe Prize. It was in this village, which he had known for fifty years, that he wanted to create an oasis of rest in his busy life.
Some 375 m² will be added to the house-museum to the rear of the existing building to highlight the work of the great doctor and humanist, Albert Schweitzer. The work consists of a glassed-in gallery and semi-hidden rooms with a ticket office, self-guiding tour and cultural programming.
